The staff at Butterfly Learning Centre are our greatest asset! We know it is important to you that your children are cared for by kind, loving and educated women and men, and we are proud to say that our staff are just that!
All permanent classroom staff at Butterfly are RECEs, registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. All staff have First Aid and CPR training, complete regular Police Vulnerable Sector Checks, and complete an orientation of our Centre before beginning employment. Our staff participate in Professional Development opportunities on an ongoing basis and continue to integrate new ideas into their classrooms.
We are happy to support prospective ECEs by partnering with Conestoga College and welcoming students in their ECE program to complete placements in our classrooms. These students get the chance to learn hands-on skills by working with our exceptional teachers, and we get to benefit from their fresh perspectives and new ideas – it’s a win-win!
Butterfly Learning Centre’s Board of Directors is an independent organization of volunteers and professionals compromised of a minimum of five members. Our goal for the Board is to have a team comprised of a minimum of two individuals with backgrounds in each of the following areas: Accounting, Education, Human Resources, Legal, and Operations (e.g. IT Administration, Fundraising, Project Management, Vendor Management, etc.). In addition, we strive to have a balance of parent representation to ensure we are receiving input from current parents with children in program. These parent representatives advocate for other parents at Board meetings on a regular basis. The board sets the overall direction of the centre and is legally responsible for what BLC does. They supervise and manage the activities of BLC and may hire a Supervisor/Executive Director to handle day-to- day implementation and operation of the Board’s overall direction.
