Preschool

We offer both full and part time care in our Preschool Program for children aged 2.5-6 years old. Our program features a wide variety of fun activities, including singing, dancing, arts and crafts, storytelling, free play and both indoor and outdoor games and projects, each designed to teach children different skills. Children in preschool have the opportunity to socialize with other kids their age with ranging abilities. Children have the ability to work at their own pace and learn to do tasks independently as our teachers facilitate and guide learning. We encourage their individual ideas to create their own exciting games and projects.

Forest and Nature Program

The Forest and Nature Program at Butterfly is a senior preschool program open to children 3.5 or older including children JK and SK age. While Forest and Nature programs do vary considerably in their approach, all programs value the importance of regular repeated access to natural outdoor spaces. The spaces available to us at Butterfly include a natural playground, Storm water pond and surrounding area, local green spaces and bus trips to a Forest area. We embrace the value of outdoor play in all weather types. Some of the activities we engage in as a Forest class include, tree climbing, building forts, nature walks, identifying plants and insects, observing nature, using hand tools, splashing in puddles, and lots of dramatic play adventures. Our indoor classroom is used for snacks and meals in cold weather as well as bathroom facilities and during rest time. We  offer a responsive and engaging program that fully embraces the value and developmental benefits of large amounts of time spent outside.
